RidgePoints are part of a reward system to reinforce positive behavior in the classroom and encourage participation in RidgeKids activities. Futhermore, RidgePoints teach your child responsibility and money management skills as they learn to keep track of and save their own RidgePoints to spend at the RidgeStore.
RidgePoints are awarded to elementary students, kindergarten through fifth grade. We do not award RidgePoints to preschool children. Young children are best motivated with instant rewards such as suckers, stickers, and high-fives.
At the RidgeStore, kids can trade in their RidgePoints for candy, toys and other cool prizes. The RidgeStore is also an opportunity to teach your child about the Biblical principle of generosity and the importance of being a cheerfully giver. Instead of spending all their RidgePoints on swag for themselves, we encourage your child to donate some of their RidgePoints to a local charity or missions project. Look for the donation box at the next RidgeStore.
The RidgeStore is scheduled to be open in the RidgeKids' large group room after select church services throughout the year (see the schedule below for dates). Parents are responsible for taking their child(ren) to the RidgeStore and assisting them with exchanging their points for prizes. The RidgeStore will close promptly at 12:30PM.
When we first introduced RidgePoints, they could only be awarded by a member of the RidgeKids’ Leadership Team during a scheduled RidgeKids' event or activity, but we realized that this structure didn't support our strategy of partnering with parents. Knowing the RidgeKids' RidgePoint system works well for modifying children's behavior, we decided to empower parents with the ability to award RidgePoints at home.
